Friends, Socializers and Time

We don't have friends anymore, we have socialisers.

I see the life I have lived, I see the life that people around me are living - my parents, my brother, my bhabhi and the people I can my friends - we live a hollow life in general and this is without being pessimistic or negative.

The term friendship is probably more abused than love, for we always tend to search friendship in love but not love in friendship. In friendships, its the time that matters. In school it was a different type of time we took out for friendship, college defined time very much differently and work spaces in an entire different way.

It's easy to move on from one friend to another as we look for the time. I know I do. Sometimes it bothers us how someone who used to spend time with us is no more available for us, and other time we are on the different end of spectrum.

वक़्त ने किया
क्या हसीन सितम
तुम रहे ना तुम
हम रहे ना हम

It used to bother me how can friendships be so fickle. Not anymore, because I see it all around me, making me feel very normal.

Indeed, it is not something to be taken pride in. It feels comforting but not a good sign as a person. However, reality is that our friendships are defined by our need to socialise. I go around my work and movies and even travelling when I don't need anyone. Yet, I do wish to live to tell tales of each event when they are worthy of retelling.

Even dates and sex dates are also based on time, more than my need - and definitely more than the need of space. The only time I feel its want is the night 'time' when I am alone and need a cuddle. Selfish, but true.

I speak to Akshay or Tanmay or other old flames in whom I looked for friendship as if I want to burden them with all the relations in life. Because of Time.

आदमी को चाहिए
वक़्त से डर कर रहे
वक़्त का बदले मिज़ाज
कौन जाने किस घड़ी
