Begun Jaan depicts the dilemma and struggle of sex workers after India-Pakistan Partition led to a conflict in the own brothel’s survival. The film seems to be set on a similar premise of Mandi and Mirch Masala – two of Indian cinema’s best feminist movies. The trailer and dialogues of the film, a remake of its own National Award winning director Srijit Mukherji’s Bengali film Rajkahini starring Rituparna Sengupta, are being widely appreciated.
